LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – The American Automobile Association (AAA) expects that over 70 million people will travel for the Fourth of July, with more than 60 million traveling by car and the remainder flying.
If you plan to drive, AAA offers some essential tips to keep in mind. They recommend having a mechanic inspect your car before hitting the road and suggest packing an emergency kit for unexpected situations.
In Laredo, residents such as Benjamin Solis and Luis Hernandez are sharing their experiences about what holiday travel is like during the Fourth of July.
“For the 4th of July, there are a lot of accidents. The elderly already know, we already know there will be,” Solis said.
According to Hernandez, “I haven’t experienced it, but I have heard that on the Fourth of July, the streets here are very calm with little traffic and you can drive around easily.”
AAA reports that summer gas prices are currently the lowest they have been since 2021.
