In recent years, AI has made significant progress in emulating human empathy. AI systems can now recognize and respond to emotional cues, simulate empathy, and predict human emotional responses more accurately through natural language processing and machine learning. In a new study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, researchers discovered that AI-generated messages were perceived as more empathetic than human-generated messages. They offered emotional support while avoiding excessive practical suggestions, making recipients feel more understood.
