SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – A hotel in Shreveport that has been under construction for years is starting to become an eyesore, according to nearby business owners.
The SpringHill Suites by Marriott on E 70th Street near Whole Foods has been under construction since 2020, the Metropolitan Planning Commission confirms. Business owners and workers at the Pierremont Plaza are getting antsy for it to be completed.
One of the owners of Bella Nonnas says the building has become an eyesore. She says sometimes trash from the construction site blows into the plaza’s parking lot, leaving her to clean it up.
The son of the owner of Don Juanz Baja Beach Tacos was more understanding of the project’s delays. He’s excited to see it finished so the restaurant can get more foot traffic. He says business slowed down a bit when the previous hotel at the location closed in 2019. He expects that foot traffic to pick back up when the new hotel is finished, he says.
