A tragic series of events unfolded in Michigan between Christmas and New Year’s Day, resulting in the deaths of a couple, Scott Levitan, 66, and Mary Lou Levitan, also 66, who were residents of Livonia, a suburb of Detroit. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incidents began when Scott Levitan fell into a frozen lake while ice-fishing with his 15-year-old grandson on Dec. 26.
The teenager attempted to rescue his grandfather but also fell into the lake. Fortunately, he was rescued and treated for his injuries.
The next day, Mary Lou Levitan tragically lost her life in a car accident while on her way to pick up her husband’s vehicle. Scott Levitan was on life support at that time.
