Ric Flair’s legendary career may not be finished yet. The iconic performer recently provided a significant update on his future in the ring.
Ric Flair is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, having competed for several decades. Despite initially retiring in 2008 after a loss to Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24, Flair made a comeback the following year and continued wrestling for TNA Wrestling until 2011.
After an 11-year hiatus from the ring, he returned for one final match in 2022, teaming up with his son-in-law Andrade against Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett. Although the match was risky for the Nature Boy, he managed to walk away unharmed. Following this, Flair made an appearance for AEW and was present in Sting’s retirement match, even getting physically involved in the bout. However, he departed from the company shortly after without competing in a match of his own.
During a recent interview on the Five Star podcast, Flair was asked if he still had one more match in him. The Nature Boy responded:
Meet John Cena’s dad HERE
“Hell yeah, I do.” [H/T Fightful]
Ric Flair explained why Tony Khan wouldn’t let him compete in AEW
Ric Flair joined AEW to be part of Sting’s farewell tour, but he was rarely involved until the end. While there were hints of Flair getting physically engaged in the buildup, he never actually entered the ring to compete.
This left fans disappointed who were hoping to see Flair back in action. However, Flair clarified why he was never permitted to wrestle in AEW.
The WWE Hall of Famer mentioned on the same podcast that Tony Khan refused to let him compete once he learned about his blood thinners.
“Once Tony (Khan) found out I was on blood thinners, he wouldn’t let me get in the ring,” Flair revealed.
It will be intriguing to see if Ric Flair was serious about having one more match.
