Some Slack users are experiencing issues with notifications on the platform today. Some users are not receiving notifications or are having trouble finding their messages. Colleagues on The Verge‘s Slack channels are reporting similar problems, including repeated notifications for messages that have already been read. This is also affecting tags for other users — if someone isn’t responding to your pings, try sending them a direct message.
Slack has acknowledged the issue of “missing notifications for some users” and has posted an incident report at 7:52AM ET today. They have confirmed that the problem is affecting threads and are currently investigating. Slack apologizes for any inconvenience caused.
The cause of the notification disruption and the number of affected users is uncertain at this time. While there is an increase in reports on Downdetector, only a few have been officially logged.
In my experience, some notifications are delayed and coming through several minutes after a message is sent. As of 10:10AM ET, Slack has stated that “other notifications should be functioning normally, but threads may not be loading correctly.”
