Police confirmed that a suspect was arrested following a random stabbing incident at the Grand Central subway station in New York City on Christmas Eve, where two victims were injured.
The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Jason Sargeant from Brooklyn, was arrested for assaulting two random individuals, according to a spokesperson from the NYPD.
Authorities responded to a 911 call about an assault at the 42 Street-Grand Central subway station just before 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
A 26-year-old woman was slashed in the neck, and a 42-year-old man was slashed in the left wrist, the police stated.

The first victim, a man, was attacked on the stairs to the southbound entrance of the station, where Sargeant allegedly slashed him across the left wrist.
Sargeant then reportedly confronted the female victim moments later, slashing her on the neck near a turnstile during a separate altercation.
Both victims were taken to local hospitals by EMS, and they are currently in stable condition.

A knife was recovered at the scene, and Sargeant was charged with multiple counts including assault and reckless endangerment.
Just days before this incident, a woman was set on fire and killed on a New York City subway train. The perpetrator, Sebastin Zapeta, was charged with murder and arson.
Following the tragedy, Governor Kathy Hochul faced criticism for her remarks on subway safety, with many calling her post “tone-deaf.”

Hochul defended her actions by claiming crime rates had decreased in NYC subways since the deployment of the National Guard earlier in the year.
Hochul sent 750 National Guard members to patrol the subways to ensure safety during the holiday season.
Fox News Digital reached out to Hochul’s office for comment on the criticism but did not receive an immediate response.
Tom Homan, Trump’s incoming border czar, criticized Hochul for her handling of the situation and blamed the Biden administration for lenient immigration policies.
