In the depths of winter, I have turned to Chinese historical dramas for comfort. While the intricate costumes and sweet romances are enjoyable, sometimes I crave a story with more depth. Dynasty Warriors: Origins has provided me with just that.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins, created by Koei-Tecmo’s Omega Force, adapts the renowned Chinese historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms into intense, 1 vs 100 style battles. This tenth installment in the series arrives at a time when the Dynasty Warriors franchise had become stagnant. Dynasty Warriors: Origins, however, breathes new life into the series.
After the release of Dynasty Warriors 9 in 2018, Omega Force took a break to work on other games. This diversion allowed them to return to the series with fresh eyes and shake things up.
In Origins, you follow the story through a character called the Wanderer, who gradually regains memories and powers. The ability to use any weapon is a refreshing change, and the combat mechanics offer a satisfying challenge.
