It has been revealed that metal legend Ozzy Osbourne’s adopted son has been living a quiet life out of the spotlight in New Zealand.
According to the Daily Mail, Elliott Osbourne and his wife, Dr Joanne Crawford, a health and safety academic at Victoria University, moved to Wellington from the UK five years ago.
Elliott was the son of Ozzy’s first wife, Thelma Riley, and was adopted by the musician after the pair married. Elliott was five years old at the time. Osbourne went on to have two children with Riley, Jessica and Louis. Unlike Ozzy’s children with Sharon, all three of his children raised with Riley had stayed out of the limelight.
Ozzy and Riley were married until 1982. He was later remarried the same year to his manager, Sharon Aeden.
Ozzy had been in a battle with Parkinson’s up until his death on Wednesday. In a statement released by the family, four of Ozzy’s children Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis were named. Elliott and his sister Jessica were not mentioned.
The Daily Mail said Elliott was working as an IT technician and had remained under the radar most of his life.
There was little known about Elliott, who was yet to speak about Ozzy’s death. There was also limited information about the nature of their relationship.
A 2011 documentary about Ozzy, directed by son Jack, revealed he could not remember when his first two children were born.
In the documentary, Louis discussed being raised by Ozzy, and what his home life looked like.
“When he was around and he wasn’t [drunk], he was a great father,” he said.
“But that was kind of seldom, really. I just have a lot of memories of him being drunk, random s**t like driving cars across fields and crashing them in the middle of the night and stuff like that.
“It’s not good for family life, really.”
Jessica added, “I don’t remember being put to bed or having a bath by dad or anything like that.
“I wouldn’t say he was there for us, no, never on sports day, school trip, parents’ evening. He wasn’t like that, no.”
The Daily Mail reported that Elliott grew up in Birmingham and attended King Edward VI High School in Stafford, having previously studied at Birmingham College.
It said he and Joanne lived in Birmingham until 2002 before moving to Bathgate in West London until 2013.
They have two sons, Owyn, 22, and James, 29.
