Paul Mullin: Wigan Athletic sign Wrexham striker on season-long loan

Wigan Athletic have signed striker Paul Mullin from Wrexham on loan for the 2025-26 League One season.

The 30-year-old signed for Wrexham from Cambridge United in 2021 and scored 110 goals in 170 games in all competitions, helping them win promotion from the National League to the Championship in successive seasons.

Despite being Wrexham’s leading man during the first two promotions under the ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Mullin was on the sidelines for much of last season as they went up to the second tier.

“I’m excited for the next part of my story. The gaffer has outlined his plan for the season, and I’m hoping to take his trust into the season and make it a really successful one,” Mullin told Wigan’s website.

“As a player, I give absolutely everything and work as hard as I can.

“I’ve scored a lot of goals over the last few years, but more than anything, I give my absolute all for the club that I’m playing for, and I’m going to do that again with Wigan.”

After undergoing surgery on a back injury last summer, Mullin made 17 appearances for Wrexham last term and started just nine League One games, scoring three league goals.

Manager Phil Parkinson said: “I’d like to wish Paul all the best for his loan move.

“It’s a good opportunity for him to get back to playing regular first-team football and I’m sure he’s going to be a great signing for Wigan Athletic.”
