Pentagon Initiates Investigation with Polygraph Testing Following Musk’s Visit

The Pentagon has launched an investigation, including the use of polygraph tests, to find those responsible for leaking information after Elon Musk called for the prosecution of Defense Department officials spreading false information about his interactions with the military.

In response to allegations surrounding Musk’s recent visit to the Pentagon, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s chief of staff, Joe Kasper, has called for an investigation into the unauthorized disclosure of national security information. Kasper stated that those found responsible would be referred to the appropriate law enforcement entity for criminal prosecution.

Musk, who holds billions of dollars in defense contracts and is the wealthiest person in the world, visited the Pentagon to discuss cost-cutting and innovation last Friday. Controversy arose before the visit as the New York Times reported that Musk was scheduled to receive a top-secret briefing on US military plans regarding a potential conflict with China.

The Times cited unnamed US officials familiar with the matter, who claimed Musk was set to view sensitive military strategies related to China, potentially exposing critical Pentagon secrets given his significant business interests in the country. Musk’s comments on China, including calling Taiwan part of China and suggesting it become an administrative zone, have also raised concerns.

Both President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Hegseth denied that there were ever plans for Musk to receive such a high-level briefing. During an Oval Office meeting, Trump acknowledged the potential conflict of interest and explained why he would not provide Musk with such a briefing.

To further address the leaks, Musk took to a social media platform he owns, demanding the prosecution of Pentagon officials leaking misleading information to the media.

Hegseth has been a vocal supporter of Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, highlighting the significant spending cuts achieved through collaboration with DOGE staff.

The investigation into leaks will begin immediately and conclude with a report to the Secretary of Defense, as stated in a memo issued on March 21. The report will detail unauthorized disclosures within the Department of Defense and provide recommendations to enhance efforts to combat such leaks.
