Rangers manager Philippe Clement will lead the team’s training session on Friday in preparation for Sunday’s match against St Johnstone.
After the Gers’ 1-1 draw at Dundee, many fans at Dens Park expressed their dissatisfaction towards the Belgian coach, questioning his future at Ibrox.
Despite the team’s recent struggles, Clement affirms that the club’s board, now under the leadership of new CEO Patrick Stewart, supports him “200 per cent.” Rangers currently trail Celtic by 15 points following a string of poor away results with only three wins in 11 games.
Addressing fan criticism, Clement told Sky Sports: “It’s expected that they’re disappointed. I’m also frustrated that we didn’t secure the three points. As the face of the team, it’s part of my role.
“I’m focused on the club and the team’s development. With recent changes, we’ve experienced a lack of stability and confidence. Some players have been overworked, leading to a lack of freshness.
“Our goal now is to respond as a team on Sunday and secure the victory.”
The upcoming match against St Johnstone marks the start of three consecutive home games, with Aberdeen up next on Wednesday – live on Sky Sports. Fraserburgh is the Scottish Cup opponent next weekend.
Afterward, Rangers travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in the Europa League before a clash against Dundee United at Tannadice Park in the Scottish Premiership, live on Sky Sports.
Boyd: Decision must be made on Clement
Following Rangers’ draw in Dundee, former Ibrox striker Kris Boyd said on Sky Sports:
“It’s just excuse after excuse,” Boyd commented. “Rangers have a team that should be dominating against Dundee but they’re struggling.
“Thirteen points out of 33 away from home is unacceptable. There’s no progress despite defeating Celtic recently. The lack of consistency is apparent.
“The team is in disarray with no clear strategy. There is disappointment among the fans, and changes need to be made.”
Sutton: Brendan cracking open champagne
Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton on Sky Sports, following the draw at Dens Park:
“Philippe Clement has to take responsibility, but it’s also the players on the pitch having the knowledge and understanding about how to win games.
“You look at the Rangers squad and you think, ‘does the jersey fit for a lot of these players?’ There’s a losing mentality at the club
