An investigation is currently ongoing following a wing collision between two planes operated by American Airlines and Frontier Airlines at Logan International Airport in Boston on Monday.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that the incident occurred around noon. A Boeing 777 belonging to American Airlines hit the wingtip of a parked Airbus A321 from Frontier Airlines while being towed.
“While pulling into its gate at Boston (BOS), American Airlines flight 109, with service from LHR to BOS, made contact with a nearby parked aircraft,” a spokesperson for American Airlines stated to Fox News.
American Airlines mentioned that no injuries were reported, and passengers disembarked shortly after the incident.

“The aircraft has been removed from service for inspection by our maintenance team. We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience this caused,” the statement continued.
The Frontier flight was en route to Dallas, while the American Airlines flight had arrived in Boston from London.
The FAA mentioned that the incident took place “in an area that’s not under air traffic control,” but they are conducting an investigation.

A spokesperson for Boston Logan International Airport described this as a minor incident.
The airport advised that both planes were deboarded and would undergo damage assessment.
A spokesperson for Frontier Airlines stated to Fox News Digital that affected customers would receive a $100 future travel credit and could choose to rebook on Frontier or get a full refund.
In addition, Frontier mentioned that customers rebooking with them could request a hotel voucher, and meal vouchers would be provided as well.

This incident coincides with the expected travel of millions of individuals across the U.S. this week for Thanksgiving.
Nearly 80 million people are estimated to travel 50 miles or more this Thanksgiving, with peak travel days falling on the Tuesday and Wednesday before the holiday and the Sunday afterward, according to AAA.
AAA anticipates air travel setting records in 2024, with an estimated 5.84 million individuals flying from airports nationwide.

The Transportation Security Administration is also preparing for what could be the busiest Thanksgiving travel period on record.
“Thanksgiving is the busiest holiday for travel, and this year we’re expecting to set new records across the board, from driving to flying and cruising,” said Stacey Barber, vice president of AAA Travel, in a news release. “Americans reconnect with family and friends over Thanksgiving, and travel is a big part of that.”
