Five individuals were injured Sunday in Franklinton, Louisiana, following a shooting at a Mardi Gras parade, as per law enforcement.
An 18-year-old suspect named Jamerian Anders was apprehended on five charges of attempted first-degree murder after the incident, according to a press release from Franklinton Police. Authorities anticipate making more arrests.
The episode occurred around 7 p.m. close to the parade route and was identified by police as a gang-related shooting.

Jamerian Anders, 18, was arrested on five counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Law enforcement officers and deputies from Franklinton Police and the Washington Parish provided immediate medical assistance to the victims at the scene before they were taken to the hospital by paramedics.
Out of the five victims, three are still hospitalized – one in critical condition and two in stable but guarded condition. The remaining two have been discharged.
Anders was apprehended at 11:40 p.m. after he provided self-incriminating information during questioning.

A motive for the shooting has not been disclosed by the authorities.

Three of the five victims remain in the hospital — one in critical condition and two in stable but guarded condition.

In a separate incident earlier in the day, two juveniles were arrested for carrying firearms in a school zone along the parade route.
Moreover, a report of gunfire earlier in the day led law enforcement to an individual armed with an AR-15-style rifle.
