A Port Vale star has written himself into the history books in their pre-season friendly against Premier League outfit Everton.
The Valiants earned promotion back to League One last season after a stellar season under Darren Moore by finishing second in League Two.
Vale are tipped to be at the bottom end of the third tier this season but will be hoping that they can have more historic moments like this again.

Port Vale make history in close Everton defeat
Ahead of the new season, Vale were one of the lucky sides to face Everton at their brand-new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton were winners on the day, claiming a 2-1 victory but history was made as Vale’s Ruari Paton became the first opposition player to score against the Toffees in their new home.
Paton’s strike gave the Valiants the lead with only two minutes on the clock as the away side were involved in a neat exchange of build-up play before slotting one home past Jordan Pickford.
He could’ve added another later in the game but sadly couldn’t finish his chances and goals from Charly Alcaraz and James Garner completed the turnaround for the hosts.
Port Vale hoping for success in milestone season
History has already been made once for Vale before even kicking a ball in what they will hope is a positive milestone season.
Having been founded in 1876, the club are celebrating their 150th year of existence.
Although promotion is a difficult task to achieve, it’s been 25 years since the club last found themselves in the Championship and if they could get back to the second tier in their 150th year it would be an incredible achievement.
