An expectant mother initially expressed her lack of interest in a gender reveal party, but a family member reportedly pressured her into having one, leading to ongoing family conflict.
“I’m expecting a baby boy in November,” shared a woman on social media, garnering 9,000 reactions and over 1,200 comments to date.
“My fiancé and I weren’t fixated on the gender of our child, so we kept it low-key once we found out,” she explained on Reddit’s AITA page.

“We only told our parents, their partners, and our siblings,” wrote “ThrowawayGenReveal” on her post.
Despite her clear stance against gender reveal parties, the woman said, “My father’s girlfriend of three years kept asking about plans for a party, which I repeatedly declined.”
“I don’t like gender reveals.” wrote a woman on Reddit, explaining her aversion. “I prefer baby showers, which feel more focused on the child. I didn’t hide this view.”

However, upon sharing the baby’s gender, “she expressed disappointment for not having a party,” the woman stated.
She went on to narrate the unexpected turn of events as her father’s girlfriend organized a surprise party against her wishes, leading to a strained relationship with her family.
“I looked around and said, ‘It’s a boy! You can all leave now.'”
