After an unexpected victory in the World Grand Prix, Belgian Mike De Decker is now being considered for a spot in next year’s Premier League. De Decker, who was ranked 36th in the PDC Order of Merit, defeated defending champion Luke Humphries in an epic final to claim his first major title.
Despite his success, De Decker acknowledges that he may not be ready for the Premier League due to the challenges it brings. He expressed his thoughts on the matter, stating, “To be honest, I don’t think I’m ready for the Premier League yet. It’s week after week against the top eight in the world, every single week.”
Winning the World Grand Prix title, De Decker walked away with £120,000, but his focus remains on the future. He expressed his doubts about joining the Premier League, citing the challenges faced by other players in the past.
He mentioned, “I’ve seen it with Kim [Huybrechts], I’ve seen it with Dimitri [Van den Bergh]…I don’t know, but if they put me in, I’ll say yes a hundred per cent.”
