Preventing My Cat’s Sickness: How I Successfully Managed It

However, let’s focus on his non-vomiting experiences, which could be valuable information for some. This kind of advice should be shared freely, maybe even passed down through generations, inscribed on cave walls or written on scrolls. The ancient wisdom of Ruthe Crillye, serving cat owners everywhere, saving carpets and rugs, one house at a time.

If you’re unfamiliar with me (welcome!), let me introduce you to my cat, Mr Bear. He’s a British Shorthair, turning thirteen this month, and quite large in size. At his peak weight, he was a hefty eight and a half kilos. While he may have slimmed down a bit since then, he would still excel in a cat wrestling championship.

For much of Mr Bear’s life, he has been prone to vomiting. Before delving deeper into this unpleasant topic, I must emphasize that the following is not a substitute for professional veterinary advice. If your cat is vomiting excessively, please seek help from a veterinarian.

I had to visit the vet a few times before realizing that my cat wasn’t seriously ill, just greedy. While I don’t advocate relying on internet searches to self-diagnose health issues, my online research was surprisingly more helpful than expensive visits to the vet. Regardless, seeking professional advice is crucial when your cat is vomiting excessively.

Despite initially thinking that Mr Bear was eating too quickly, causing his vomiting, I discovered that he was actually regurgitating his food. The solution was simple: I raised his food bowl from the floor, allowing him to eat without straining himself. Since making this adjustment, Mr Bear rarely vomits, and our life has been vomit-free ever since.

This improvement has significantly reduced the inconvenience of cleaning up daily piles of cat vomit. The adjustment I made was remarkably simple, yet incredibly effective. Raising the food bowl was the key to ending the constant vomiting, transforming our lives from daily cleanup sessions to occasional surprises.

If you’ve made it to the end, congratulations! Please share this post with other cat owners who may benefit from these insights. Feel free to join the discussion in the comments section for more joyful cat and dog conversations.
