Providence adds Jason Edwards from Vanderbilt in 2025 college basketball transfer portal tracker

The college basketball transfer portal is open for business as of March 24, one day after the Round of 32 ended. As a result, there have been players on NCAA Tournament teams who’ve entered the portal. It’ll remain open until April 22.

Let’s take a look at the top players in the portal and transfer moves so far this offseason:

April 4

Vanderbilt G Jason Edwards transfers to Providence

For the second consecutive year, Edwards has departed for a new school, this time landing in Providence. Last season, Edwards averaged a team-high 17.0 points per game for Vanderbilt, while shooting 43.5/35.3/83.1. He joins a Friars program that went just 12-20 overall this season and is entering their third season with head coach Kim English.

Iowa G Josh Dix transfers to Creighton

After three seasons in Iowa City, Dix is off to Omaha. Last season, the 6-foot-5 guard averaged a career-high 14.4 points per game, while shooting 50.7/42.2/76.6. Dix and the Hawkeyes missed the NCAA Tournament, while the Bluejays claimed a No. 9 seed in the tournament before being eliminated in the second round.

April 3

Michigan G Tre Donaldson transfers to Miami

Donaldson will play at his third school in three seasons after electing to play his senior year at the University of Miami. Donaldson had a quality junior campaign, averaging 11.6 points and 4.2 assists per game, in a complementary role to Wolverines’ stars Vladislav Goldin and Danny Wolf. The Hurricanes are coming off their lowest-winning season since 1994, but have now added Malik Reneau and Donaldson in consecutive days as they try to author a turnaround.

UCLA G Dylan Andrews transfers to Boise State

Andrews will finish out his college career with the Broncos after playing three seasons with the Bruins. He had a down year in 2024-25, averaging under 7.1 points per game after being at 13 in the season prior. He’s a high-IQ point guard who will impact the game immediately for Boise State.

April 2

Xavier G Ryan Conwell transfers to Louisville

Conwell will play for his fourth school in four seasons after announcing his decision to transfer from Xavier to Louisville for his senior year. This season, Conwell averaged 16.8 points per game, the sixth most of any player in the Big East. By adding Conwell, along with Kennessaw State transfer Adrian Wooley, Virginia transfer Isaac McKneely and 5-star recruit Mikel Brown Jr., Cardinals’ coach Pat Kelsey has replenished his backcourt after Chucky Hepburn, J’Vonne Hadley, Terrance Edwards, and Reyne Smith graduated.

Indiana F Malik Reneau transfers to Miami

After spending the first three seasons of his collegiate career in Bloomington, Reneau is off to South Florida. This season, Reneau averaged 13.3 points and 5.5 rebounds in 23.2 minutes per contest. He joins a Miami program entering its first season with Jai Lucas, who was an assistant coach at Duke the past three seasons, as its head coach.

April 1

Illinois F Morez Johnson transfers to Michigan

After one season in Champaign, Johnson will be spending his sophomore season in Ann Arbor with the Wolverines. On an Illinois team that claimed a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament before being eliminated in the second round, Johnson averaged seven points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in just 17.6 minutes per game.

Xavier F Dailyn Swain transfers to Texas

You … you’re coming with me!” That’s what former Xavier head coach Sean Miller told Swain when he left the Musketeers for the Longhorns, and the latter has now indeed transferred to Texas. Last season, Swain, a sophomore, averaged 11.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game, while shooting 53.2% from the field.

Providence F Bryce Hopkins transfers to St. John’s
Details: Hopkins was one of the best transfers available and should help fill the gap left by R.J. Luis’ departure, if his health permits. The senior is coming off a 2024-25 season in which he played just three games after hurting his knee on Dec. 10. On top of that, he tore his ACL on Jan. 3, 2024, and missed the rest of that season, so he’s appeared in just 17 games over the past two seasons. Across those games, though, he’s averaged 15.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. He’s a big wing who has the ability to muscle his way past defenders and score in the paint and from mid-range.

This season, Luis averaged 18.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game on a Red Storm team that went 31-5 overall and 18-2 in Big East play. They also won both the Big East regular-season title and the Big East Tournament, helping them claim a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. That said, St. John’s was upset by No. 10 seed Arkansas in the second round.

Kansas center Flory Bidunga enters portal
Details: The 6-foot-9 Bidunga, who averaged 5.9 points and 5.4 boards as a freshman, is looking for a new school, according to multiple reports. The former McDonald’s All-American was 247Sports’ No. 17 overall recruit in the 2024 class and the No. 1 prospect from the state of Indiana.
