Sony has stealth dropped another PS5 feature update that adds a nifty summer-themed animated background for the Welcome Hub. This is the second animated theme that has been added within a span of a month following a whole batch of them back in April. Once again, the update only brings one theme, but it’s nothing to scoff at.
How to manually update PS5 system features to get new animated themes
Unlike the last time, players may have to manually update their PS5 to snag the animated background pictured below.
Simply hit the Settings cog on the top right of your PS5 home screen (next to profile thumbnail), then navigate down to System. From the drop down menu on the right, select System Feature Updates, and then wait for the process to finish.
If the theme has been rolled out in your region, you’ll be prompted to restart your console. Upon booting up, go to the Welcome Hub and you’ll see the new theme right up top in the “From PlayStation” section.
If you don’t have any new system feature updates on your end, then that means the background has yet to be added in your region.
