Jude Bellingham acknowledged that losing to Liverpool was not a disgrace but indicated that Real Madrid lacked the desire shown by Arne Slot’s team after their 2-0 defeat at Anfield.
Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo scored to maintain Liverpool’s perfect record in the Champions League and secure their first victory against Real Madrid in 15 years.
Liverpool took the lead in the second half, but Kylian Mbappe missed a penalty that could have leveled the score. Speaking to TNT after the game, Bellingham admitted that Liverpool made it challenging for Real Madrid to establish control in the match.
“They displayed more enthusiasm than us,” Bellingham remarked.
“Losing to the best-performing team in Europe is not a disgrace. However, we are disappointed with our performance tonight.
“Right from the beginning, they controlled the game. We did not capitalize on our possession. Every time we regained possession, we attempted too many counter-attacks.”
