Samsung is gearing up to release its new flagship phone, the Galaxy S25 series, soon. However, there is exciting news for users of the current Galaxy S24 series—those with the S24, S24 Plus, or S24 Ultra—regarding a major speed boost coming their way.
The speed boost is attributed to the upcoming One UI 7 software that Samsung is set to introduce alongside the new S25 range. This improvement showcases the advantage of electronic devices, as better software can enhance the performance of existing hardware over time.
The new software brings various enhancements, including a new unlock sound confirmed by renowned leaker Ice Universe. This updated sound is described as “crisp,” with additional sounds indicating charging status.
The noteworthy change lies in the improved speed of unlocking the S24. Ice Universe mentions in a separate post on X that “Not only the sound is clearer, but also the fingerprint unlocking speed is extremely fast, which is faster than the previous version.”
This enhancement may seem minor, but considering the frequency of phone unlocks per day, a faster unlock process can be quite beneficial.
Fingerprint sensors revolutionized phone security by offering quicker access compared to PINs or pattern locks. With under-the-display sensors, unlocking became even more convenient.
With faster fingerprint unlock speeds, users can enjoy a significant advantage. A demo video on X showcased the swift response of unlocking the Samsung Galaxy S24 screen using beta software, hinting at this speed improvement coming to Samsung’s 2024 phones.
The unlocking process appears more like a tap than a press in the video, emphasizing the rapid response time.
While this upgrade may not be the most significant feature of One UI 7, it is a valuable addition that enhances user experience.
