PARKERSBURG — The Emma Romanowski WesBanco Bank July art exhibit may be viewed at 415 Market Street during regular business hours of Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Romanowski was awarded the 2025 Teacher of the Year award by the West Virginia Art Education Association. Romanowski has been an art teacher at Parkersburg South High School for three years and has taught art in local schools for 10 years.

“Throughout my artistic career I have cultivated a dynamic and multifaceted practice that spans design, photography, ceramics, painting, and large-scale mural work,” said Romanowski.

She has earned national recognition, including publication in the Great American Smoke-out and Photographers Forum Magazine, as well as juried into numerous exhibitions such as the Mid-Ohio Valley Art Teacher Show, The River Exhibition, and Crosscurrents at the Stifel Art Center.

“I have held a series of solo shows at WesBanco and contributed to the visual landscape of my community through both public mural projects, such as the Parkersburg Floodwall, Southwood Public Pool and private commissions for businesses and schools,” said Romanowski.

Romanowski was awarded the West Virginia Art Education Association High School Art Teacher of the Year in 2021 and was a nominee for Wood County Teacher of the Year. Her private commissioned murals are Boxers Bed and Biscuits, Really Cheap Geeks Building, Parkersburg High School Christmas backdrop and Parkersburg High School Theatre Department backdrop. Romanowski has had numerous exhibitions throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley and other areas of the state. Romanowski’s ceramic work has been sold through regional markets and online platforms, and she continues to paint portrait commissions.

“I also actively contribute to philanthropic art events using my creative work to raise funds for public outreach and community wellness, including the Parkersburg Art Center, Marietta Main Street, and WVU Medical Center’s Heart Ball. My digital portfolio highlights the breath of this work and reflects my ongoing commitment to both artistic excellence and community engagement,” Romanowski said.

Both her undergraduate and graduate degrees are in art, and she continues to attend workshops, conferences, and studio seminars to further her knowledge and sharpen her fine art skills.
