EXCLUSIVE: The Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard has been terminated over concerns about the border, recruitment issues, and an “erosion of trust,” according to a senior DHS official who spoke to Fox News.
Adm. Linda Lee Fagan was terminated by Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Benjamine Huffman, the official confirmed.
Fagan’s termination was due to leadership deficiencies, operational failures, and the inability to advance the strategic goals of the Coast Guard.
These reasons include failure to address border security threats, inadequate leadership in recruitment and retention, mismanagement in obtaining key assets such as icebreakers and helicopters, excessive emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and an “erosion of trust” due to mishandling and covering up of Operation Fouled Anchor.
Fagan began her role as the 27th Commandant of the Coast Guard on June 1, 2022. She was responsible for overseeing all global Coast Guard operations and managing 42,000 active-duty personnel, 7,000 reserve members, 8,700 civilian employees, and support for 21,000 Coast Guard Auxiliary volunteers.
