Spokane brokerage 4 Degrees Real Estate has joined eXp Realty, according to an announcement on Friday.

Brothers Joel and Jordan Tampien founded 4 Degrees in 2015 and have grown the firm to 35 agents, who completed 755 transaction sides worth $306 million in 2024. Before starting 4 Degrees with business partner Steve James, Joel was a senior logistics advisor in the US Army and Jordan was an experienced real estate agent with more than $250 million in residential and commercial sales.
The brothers, who earned degrees at Whitworth University and Gonzaga, have transformed 4 Degrees into one of fastest-growing real estate firms in the Inland Northwest through full-service real estate sales, multifamily and single-family rental management and investment offerings.
“We weren’t looking to make a change just for the sake of it,” the trio said in a joint statement. “But after researching eXp Realty, it became clear that this partnership would give our agents access to cutting-edge technology, unparalleled collaboration, and long-term financial benefits that an independent brokerage simply couldn’t replicate.”

“We are confident that this move will help our agents scale their businesses while maintaining the values that built 4 Degrees in the first place,” they added.
EXp CEO Leo Pareja said 4 Degrees represents “another milestone” in the brokerage’s mission to bring experienced, high-performing affiliates into the company.
“We are thrilled to welcome Joel, Jordan, Steve and the entire 4 Degrees Real Estate team to eXp Realty,” he said. “They have built a remarkable brokerage based on integrity, innovation and excellence. At eXp, we are committed to empowering top-tier teams with the tools, resources, and support they need to scale.”
“Their decision to join us speaks volumes about the value we provide, and we can’t wait to see what they accomplish by leveraging the eXp platform,” he added.
EXp has struggled in recent quarters with agent count growth, with the cloud-based brokerage’s fourth-quarter and full-year 2024 earnings revealing its agent count had declined 5 percent year over year to 82,980. Although that’s not a number to sneeze at, it does fall short of company founder Glenn Sanford’s 2021 prediction that eXp would hit 500,000 agents by 2026.
Although agent count growth has been lagging, the brokerage’s transaction sides and volume have remained robust — signaling that it’s focus on recruiting experienced teams and brokerages, like 4 Degrees, is working.
“We’re very much focused on attracting producing agents and teams. So that top tier of the industry,” eXp Chief Marketing Officer Wendy Forsythe told Inman in November. “This year we have had a campaign and mantra around ‘eXp is where the pros go to grow.’ That has really been an anchor of our recruiting efforts, especially given the market.”
“Agents are looking for stability and legacy and all of the important fundamentals that a proven model and brokerage like eXp can provide,” she added. “So that’s very much been an overarching focus of our recruiting efforts this year.”
