Steelers player adamant about Aaron Rodgers staying away from Pittsburgh

Aaron Rodgers’ future in the NFL is uncertain following his imminent departure from the New York Jets.

Rodgers showcased his top form towards the end of the 2024 season, despite the Jets only managing to secure five wins upon his return from a torn Achilles injury. FOX Sports reported on Sunday that the Jets informed Rodgers of their decision to move on from him, either through a trade or outright release.

There are only a few teams where Rodgers could realistically land as a starter. The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the few teams facing a quarterback decision – whether to retain Russell Wilson or Justin Fields or to explore the free-agent market, potentially pursuing someone like Rodgers.

Steelers safety DeShon Elliott has made it clear that he does not want Rodgers on the team.

Elliott responded to an Instagram post suggesting that Rodgers could end up in Pittsburgh.

“Leave his a– at the retirement home,” he wrote before apparently deleting it.

The NFL world made sure to screenshot the remark before it went away.

Rodgers has not made a definitive statement about his plans for the upcoming season. He will be turning 42 in December.

The 10-time Pro Bowler accumulated 3,897 passing yards, 28 touchdown passes, and 11 interceptions in his sole complete season with the Jets.
