The Cape Coral-Fort Myers metro area added 2,100 jobs in education and health services over the year in June, while the Naples-Marco Island area gained 1,100 jobs in the same sector, according to Florida Department of Commerce data. Private sector employment rose by 2,100 jobs, 0.8%, in Cape Coral-Fort Myers and 800 jobs, or 0.5%, in Naples-Marco Island. Unemployment rates ticked up to 4.4% in Fort Myers and 4.1% in Naples. Florida’s private sector grew 1.5%, adding 128,100 jobs statewide. The state’s unemployment rate stood at 3.7%, lower than the national average for the 56th consecutive month.
