Tesla Introduces Redesigned Model Y in the US, while Continuing Sales of Previous Version

Tesla has begun accepting orders for the refreshed “Juniper” Model Y in the Americas (US, Canada, Mexico, and Chile) and Europe, just weeks after its launch in China and other Asia-Pacific markets. In the US, the Launch Series is currently the only trim level available for order at $59,990 before discounts, offering a fully loaded setup with special badging, Full Self-Driving (Supervised) driver assist, and Acceleration Boost.

The updated Model Y features new front and rear lights, an upgraded interior with an 8-inch touchscreen for the backseat, acoustic glass treatment, a new sound system with more speakers, and a retuned suspension. The design also includes a new front-facing camera for enhanced Autopilot visibility and Smart Summon capabilities.

Deliveries for the new Model Y are expected to begin in March, offering increased efficiency and performance similar to last year’s Model 3 update. It also includes power-folding rear seats and a hands-free trunk that unlocks automatically.

Unlike previous Tesla launches, the older version of the Model Y remains available for purchase, with reduced pricing options advertised on the website. The price difference between the new and old Long Range dual-motor AWD Model Ys with similar configurations is approximately $4,000.

The new Model Y offers a 320-mile range without an EPA stamp, compared to the old version’s 311 EPA estimate. The advertised 0-60 mph time has improved to 4.1 seconds from 4.8. However, the top speed has decreased from 135 mph to 125 mph. Additional options for the new Model Y include a performance package, more color choices, and a seven-seat configuration.
