Testing of xAI’s standalone iOS app for the Grok chatbot is currently underway.

Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, is currently testing a standalone iOS app for its chatbot, Grok, which was previously only available to X users.

The app is now live in various countries, including the U.S., Australia, and India, and has the ability to access real-time data from the web and X. It offers generative AI features such as text rewriting, summarizing long paragraphs, some Q&A functionality, and the ability to generate images from text prompts.

“Grok is an AI-powered assistant designed to be maximally truthful, useful, and curious. Get answers to any question, generate striking images, and upload pictures to gain a deeper understanding of your world,” reads the listing.

xAI is also in the process of creating a dedicated website, Grok.com, to make the chatbot accessible on the web, with the site currently displaying a “coming soon” message for users logging in with an xAI account.

Previously only available to X’s paying subscribers, Grok became available to all users after a free version of the chatbot was tested in November and fully rolled out earlier this month.

The company emphasizes that its chatbot’s image generator model excels in “photorealistic rendering” and does not impose significant restrictions on image-generation capabilities, allowing users to create images using public figures and copyrighted material.

The story has been updated to reflect the launch of the Grok app in multiple countries in beta.
