EA Sports’ rollout of preview content for the upcoming College Football 26 video game already included a trailer and a ranking of the toughest stadiums to play in the game.
It continued Friday with the game’s rankings of the top 25 teams in the game.
The Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies are the only local schools among the top 10 teams in the game. Texas checked in at No. 2 behind Alabama, while Texas A&M is ranked No. 8 in the game.
The Aggies and Longhorns weren’t the only local schools in the top 25, though. Texas Tech is No. 13, Oklahoma is No. 17 and SMU is No. 19 in College Football 26.
While Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma are typically among the more talented teams in college football, the recent runs of Texas Tech and SMU vaulted each program into the top 25. The Red Raiders received a boost thanks to their eye-popping haul in the transfer portal and the Mustangs jumped into the rankings thanks to their trip to the College Football Playoff last season.
The game is set to release on July 10.
