Texas in Second Place in College Football Playoff Rankings; Oregon Takes First Spot with Ohio State Falling to Sixth

The latest College Football Playoff rankings for the 2024 season were unveiled on Tuesday night. The Oregon Ducks, with a perfect 12-0 record overall and 9-0 in Big Ten play, remain atop the rankings after a decisive 49-21 victory over Washington in their last regular-season game. The Ducks, the only undefeated team in FBS, are set to face Penn State in the Big Ten Championship Game at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Following an unexpected loss by Ohio State to Michigan, there was a significant shift in the rankings, propelling the Texas Longhorns to the No. 2 spot, with Penn State close behind at No. 3.

In the latest CFP rankings, Notre Dame claims the fourth spot, with Georgia rounding out the top five.

Here are the current top 25 teams in the CFP rankings:

1. Oregon
2. Texas
3. Penn State
4. Notre Dame
5. Georgia

Now that the fifth set of CFP rankings has been released, here’s a potential projected bracket:

1. Oregon: Bye (possibly facing winner of 8. Ohio State vs. 9. Tennessee)

First two teams out:
Miami
Ole Miss
