Thankful to Finally be Divorced

Finally, Rachel Lindsay’s lengthy romantic ordeal has come to an end.

Earlier this week, after over a year since her divorce filing from Bryan Abasolo, the former Bachelorette lead has officially completed the legal process.

Yes, it’s official. Rachel Lindsay is now officially single.

“I’m divorced. Thank you, God,” Lindsay declared on the January 10 episode of her Higher Learning podcast. “Give me some freedom music. Some freedom music.”

After some lighthearted banter, Lindsay got serious, explaining to co-host Van Lathan how it feels “weird” to be free from her marriage.

“From the moment he finally left the house, after being here for seven months post-separation, I felt divorced,” she shared. “I’ll be honest, there’s a lot I want to say.”

Will she spill all the tea on the apparently ugly details?

“I will, and I’m just figuring all that out,” Lindsay continued. “There [are] so many things that I want to address.”

They do not have any children together.

The couple first met on Lindsay’s season of The Bachelorette in 2017, got engaged on the finale, and tied the knot in August 2019.

Mostly staying out of the spotlight for the following years, they made headlines when Lindsay hinted at marital strife during an appearance on The Viall Files.

She explained that they led “totally separate lives” with Abasolo working long hours alone while she had more free time in her line of work.

Without going into details on the podcast, Lindsay revealed what she found most “bothered” about Abasolo’s behavior post-split.

“On his end, there were certain things that were said to play into certain stereotypes that really were hurtful or bothered me. … Saying things that particularly play into the stereotype of me being an angry Black female,” she recounted, stating that “a narrative” portrayed her as prioritizing her career over the relationship and family.

“Those things are emphatically so not true,” Lindsay emphasized. “To see people run with that because it’s the low-hanging fruit and it fits a certain stereotype, were really hurtful.”
