A Texas father tragically passed away after suffering a medical emergency while attempting to save his teenage son, who was killed in an accidental shooting involving his brother, as reported by local authorities.
Law enforcement arrived at a residence in Texas City shortly before 1:30 a.m. and discovered 17-year-old Joshua Gonzales deceased upon arrival, confirmed the Texas City Police Department.
An investigation determined that Joshua Gonzales’ 15-year-old brother unintentionally fired the gun, leading to the death of the 17-year-old, the police stated.
“While trying to provide life-saving assistance, the victim’s father, Julian Gonzales, unfortunately suffered a deadly medical event,” officials said.

Julian Gonzales, also known as Jay, suffered a heart attack while trying to save his son’s life and passed away as reported by FOX26 Houston. Gonzales was a well-known tattoo artist in the local community.
“He made a significant impact on many lives. Now he is no longer with us. This world will feel his absence. He touched numerous hearts and contributed greatly to the community,” shared Melo Salazar, Gonzales’ friend and business partner, with the station.
The police questioned the 15-year-old brother and released him following further investigation.

Family and friends expressed their concerns about the well-being of Gonzales’ 15-year-old son after the tragic incident to FOX26.
“Despite being an accident, the trauma, pain, uncertainty, guilt, and self-blame will linger, causing immense suffering,” Salazar remarked.
