The incoming Trump administration is preparing for immigration arrests of illegal immigrants nationwide starting on day one, with officials ready to empower Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The Wall Street Journal reported that a large-scale raid is planned for Tuesday in Chicago, focusing on individuals with criminal backgrounds.
Tom Homan, the incoming border czar, confirmed to Fox News’ Jesse Watters that ICE will be active nationwide, not just in Chicago.

“There will be a large raid nationwide. Chicago is just one target among many. With 24 field offices across the country, ICE will be carrying out their duties on Tuesday. We’re unleashing ICE to arrest criminal aliens without hesitation,” he stated.
“ICE will enforce immigration laws unapologetically. Prioritizing public safety threats, but no one is exempt. If they are in the country illegally, they will face consequences,” he added.
The administration has committed to a mass deportation operation and bolstered border security. Focus will be on individuals with criminal records, while acknowledging anyone in the U.S. illegally is subject to potential arrest. Currently, there are over 7 million individuals on ICE’s non-detained docket.

A source familiar with the matter told Fox News Digital, “Arrests will begin on day one, and Chicago won’t be the sole location targeted.”
Resistance is expected from “sanctuary” cities that refuse to cooperate with ICE detainers. Some Democratic officials in Chicago, Massachusetts, and Arizona have vowed non-cooperation.
