President-elect Trump responded to President Biden’s unexpected decision to pardon his son Hunter on Sunday.
Biden’s surprising move to grant a pardon, which he previously stated he wouldn’t do, caught the attention of many. In a post on Truth Social on Sunday night, Trump suggested that Biden should have pardoned the Jan. 6 protesters instead.
“Does Joe’s pardon for Hunter include the Jan. 6 hostages, who have been in prison for years?” Trump questioned. “This is an abuse of justice!”
The Trump transition team also had strong reactions to Hunter Biden’s pardon.
BIDEN REFUSES TO PARDON HUNTER, WHITE HOUSE AFFIRMS, BUT CRITICS DISAGREE
“The baseless investigations against President Trump have shown that the Democrat-controlled DOJ and other radical prosecutors are misusing the justice system,” said Steven Cheung, Trump’s incoming White House communications chief, in a statement to Fox News.
“This broken justice system needs to be fixed, and due process must be restored for all Americans, a task President Trump will undertake as he returns to the White House with a strong mandate from the American people.”
Earlier that day, Biden accused Republicans of unfair treatment and claimed that Hunter had been “singled out” by prosecutors. Hunter Biden was convicted of three felony firearm offenses in a Delaware trial earlier in the year and later pleaded guilty to several felony tax offenses in September.
