LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – MARCH 08: UFC CEO Dana White holds a press conference after the UFC 313 event at … More
The UFC is doing Noche UFC again in 2025, but it won’t be at the Sphere in Las Vegas. This year, Dana White and Co. are pushing the celebration of Mexican culture to Arena Guadalajara in Guadalajara.
The event will take place on September 13, and it will be a numbered UFC event (UFC 320).
The arena will not officially open until April 25, but it is believed to be ideal for concerts and sporting events. The UFC may be the first major sporting event at the venue, but that is unconfirmed.
While the UFC may not go as grand as it did from a tech standpoint with this year’s celebration of Mexican culture, you can bet there will be some flair, as the new arena is built to handle major productions.
From a fight card standpoint, I’d expect at least one title fight on the card—and probably two. Noche UFC 2024 had two, with Sean O’Malley losing his UFC men’s bantamweight title to Merab Dvalishvili and Alexa Grasso dropping her women’s flyweight title to Valentina Shevchenko.
NEW YORK, NEW YORK – NOVEMBER 16: Jon Jones poses for a portrait after his victory during the UFC … More
If you’re looking for fights to headline the show, there is an outside chance Jon Jones could be defending his UFC heavyweight title against Tom Aspinall as the headliner. I’d only say this is possible because Jones has said he needs six months to prepare for the fight, which would almost perfectly line up with UFC 320.
That said, it might be more likely Jones faces Aspinall at the pay-per-view in New York, which normally happens around November at Madison Square Garden. Waiting that long would probably annoy Aspinall and most Jones critics, but it might be right up the champion’s alley.
If not Jones-Aspinall, I’d say look at champions who recently fought or who are scheduled to fight in the next 45 days. That would be Magomed Ankalaev, who dethroned Alex Pereira for the light heavyweight championship.
Their rematch would be a suitable main event for any card. The UFC will also likely look to put as many interesting fights—including Mexican fighters—on the card. Rising star David Martinez, who scored an explosive first-round TKO win on Saturday night in his main roster debut, is an option.
The same can be said for Raul Rosas Jr. He also grabbed a victory in Mexico City on Saturday.
MEXICO CITY, MEXICO – MARCH 29: Raul Rosas Jr. and David Martinez of Mexico pose for a photo after … More
The same can be said for Manuel Torres and even Ronaldo Rodriguez—despite his weight miss and loss on Saturday to Kevin Borjas. Yair Rodriguez didn’t get an opportunity to fight at Noche UFC in 2024 because he was recovering from an injury.
However, if he has a successful return to the Octagon against Patricio Pitbull at UFC 314 on April 12 in Miami, it seems feasible he could potentially be ready for a fight in September.
WINDANG, AUSTRALIA – JUNE 22: Alexander Volkanovski poses during a UFC 290 media opportunity with … More
Alexander Volkanovski has said he wants to fight three times this year. If he is going to accomplish that, he may need to fight in or around September. A fight between him and Movsar Evloev or someone from the Pitbull-Rodriguez fight could be logical opponents after he faces Diego Lopes in April.
