A game from Syphon Filter and Days Gone developer Bend Games has been shut down, as well as a live-service God of War game that Bluepoint Games has been working on. According to Schreier, Bluepoint Games is one of the developers Sony acquired recently, known for ports and remasters such as Demon’s Souls and the first three Uncharted games. While the studios will not be closing, their next projects remain unknown.
The live service trend in gaming, once promising after games like Fortnite, has faced challenges with titles like Concord, Anthem, and Redfall. Sony has also canceled several service titles, including the Spider-Man game leaked by the Insomniac ransomware breach, Twisted Metal, and a Destiny-related game called Payback from Bungie.
Despite these challenges, we can still look forward to updates on Bungie’s revived Marathon extraction shooter and Fairgames, a PvP heist title from Haven Studios.
