MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — Volunteers came together on Tuesday to clean up a key area in Myrtle Beach as part of an Earth Day initiative.
The cleanup focused on a retention pond near Robert Grissom and Joe White Avenue that flows into Withers Swash and eventually reaches the ocean.

“We all care a lot about our community, so we’re just here to make sure that it doesn’t… People are going to litter everywhere, but if we care about our community enough to clean it up, then it won’t stay that way,” said Samantha Norris, a Volunteer.
The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce partnered with local businesses for Tuesday’s event, focusing on areas that don’t typically get the same attention as beach cleanups.
