Walker Gamble Elementary School has been chosen to participate in the pilot of the National Elementary Art Honor Society (NEAHS) for the 2025–2026 school year, according to a letter from the National Art Education Association (NAEA).
The national pilot recognizes elementary students who demonstrate outstanding commitment to the visual arts and aims to elevate the role of art education in schools across the country. Walker Gamble is one of only a small number of schools nationwide selected for this inaugural opportunity.
“We are proud to announce that Walker Gamble has been selected to participate in the National Elementary Art Honor Society Pilot Program,” the school shared in a recent announcement. “This national honor recognizes the creativity of our students and the dedication of our amazing art program!”
Art teacher Jessie Welch will serve as the NEAHS sponsor, guiding the new chapter at Walker Gamble and helping shape the national program.
“Your art teacher has been chosen to serve as the NEAHS sponsor and will play a key role in shaping this exciting new initiative,” said Paula Liz, NAEA Youth and Preservice Program Manager. “Your insights will be vital as we refine the program to best support young artists and their learning communities.”
The NEAHS is modeled after the long-standing National Art Honor Society (NAHS) for high school students and the National Junior Art Honor Society (NJAHS) for middle schoolers. These programs promote student achievement in the arts and provide benefits such as leadership development, peer acknowledgment, and support for college and career readiness.
The NEAHS pilot reflects the NAEA’s commitment to recognizing and nurturing creativity, collaboration, and growth in the visual arts.
