West Ham have terminated head coach Julen Lopetegui’s contract.
In a statement, the club expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s performance in the first half of the season and took appropriate action.
West Ham also announced that they are in the process of appointing a new head coach.
Graham Potter is expected to succeed the 58-year-old after positive discussions with him.
Lopetegui assumed the role at West Ham in May, succeeding David Moyes.
Despite significant summer signings, Lopetegui only managed to win six out of 20 Premier League games, leaving West Ham in 14th place.
Lopetegui narrowly escaped dismissal in December after a divided board following a loss to Leicester.
With only one win in five subsequent matches, West Ham has decided to end Lopetegui’s term, culminating in a 4-1 defeat to Manchester City.
