Wimbledon 2025 Day 4: Live Updates Featuring Djokovic, Sinner, and Shelton

Victoria Mboko’s memorable run to the French Open third round got her inside the top 100 of the women’s rankings, but not in time to get her into Wimbledon.

So the 18-year-old Canadian had to go through qualifying instead, where she fell just short after winning two of the three matches needed to make it.

Still, she stuck around in London; someone might withdraw.

Anasatasia Potapova of Russia duly did and Mboko — who as Matt Futterman reported, was eating pasta when she found out — got into the main draw.

Just as in Paris, she isn’t wasting the opportunity.

Mboko beat the seeded Magdalena Fręch in round one and she is a break up against Hailey Baptiste of the U.S. in round two.

The Canadian may have announced herself to the wider world at Roland Garros, but her breakthrough was not just a moment.

She is 43-7 in 2025, mostly on the third-tier ITF women’s tour. Winning that many matches at that level is a cue that her success at majors this year is not going to be a fleeting thing.
