WVU fails to cover after blowing late lead in 2025 College Basketball Bad Beats

A shocking finish occurred in the Cincinnati-West Virginia game on Wednesday night.

WVU bettors, brace yourself.

Initially favored by 3.5 points, West Virginia was up by nine points against Cincinnati with less than 15 seconds remaining, leading 62-53.

Things took a wild turn from there.

With only 15 seconds left in the game, Cincinnati nearly lost possession of the ball before junior forward Dan Skillings Jr. grabbed it. He then took a seemingly desperate 3-pointer that surprisingly went in with eight seconds left, reducing WVU’s lead to six.

On the subsequent inbound play, West Virginia turned the ball over.

Can you anticipate what unfolded next?

Skillings got the ball once again and made an off-balance 3-pointer with five seconds left, shrinking WVU’s lead to three.

In their next possession, West Virginia turned the ball over again, but Cincinnati’s freshman forward Tyler Betsey missed a game-tying 3-point shot, securing the win for the Mountaineers.

Despite the victory, WVU spread bettors were left devastated after what could have been an easy win just seconds before the game ended.
