Your mouth remains shut while mine is speaking

Chael Sonnen schooled Daniel Cormier on the importance of not interrupting him during their podcast.

After their fighting careers, Sonnen and Cormier ventured into creating MMA content on social media. These former UFC legends have their own YouTube channels and collaborate on an ESPN show titled Good Guy / Bad Guy.

Sonnen and Cormier recently shared their MMA predictions for 2025 in a video. Sonnen concluded the episode by urging Cormier to refrain from interrupting him:

“Well, I’ve been a pretty good partner and definitely a pretty good friend this year. Do I have any favors stored up? Like could I get a favor from you when we go into this break? I want you to do a real deep dive, but I want you to go into a word called interrupting. I want you to really learn what interrupting is and then I want you to try to come back with a commitment that you’re going to do a little less of it next year.”

Sonnen continued by saying:

“When my mouth is moving, yours is shut. That’s how it works. Bad guy and the other guy. If you enjoy being the other guy, do a little more listening than talking.”

Chael Sonnen reveals Hulk Hogan’s humility while cornering Colby Covington

On Dec. 14, 2024, the final UFC event of the year occurred in Tampa, Florida. In the main event, Joaquin Buckley solidified his position as a welterweight contender with a third-round TKO (doctor’s stoppage) against Colby Covington.

One of the significant highlights from the fight was Covington’s walkout. The former interim UFC champion entered the arena with Hulk Hogan and Chael Sonnen, attracting a lot of attention from fans.

During an episode of Good Guy / Bad Guy, Sonnen shared Hogan’s humility backstage before the walkout:

“It was a cool thing, it was Hulk Hogan… Very first thing Colby says to him, ‘When the camera hits, Hulk, I want you with the American flag…I come out behind you’. And Hulk cut him off and said, ‘Colby, too far. I am a guest in your house. You go first, I’m at your back… I won’t have it any other way.’ And that was his attitude right from the beginning and he was more than welcome in that locker room.”

Colby Covington’s loss to Joaquin Buckley was his only fight in 2023. The 36-year-old aims to bounce back in 2025 and potentially secure his first UFC victory since defeating Jorge Masvidal by unanimous decision in March 2022.
