The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup continues its slate of round of 16 matches Sunday, with Bayern Munich and Flamengo battling it out at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Bayern, long the dominant force in the Bundesliga, opened their Club World Cup with a 10-0 demolition of Auckland City FC. The Bavarians then eked out a 2-1 victory over Boca Juniors, but fell 1-0 to Benfica, settling for the second spot in Group C. Club legend Thomas Müller is set to exit Bayern when this tournament ends, and the team is motivated to send him out with one more trophy.
Flamengo, Brazil’s most popular club, knocked off Chelsea 3-1 in one of the Club World Cup’s biggest upsets thus far. The Rio de Janeiro-based side also defeated Espérance Sportive de Tunis, but needed a late equalizer against LAFC to seal the top spot in Group D. Their reward? Another shot at stunning one of Europe’s aristocrats.
