Sex offender on Detroit’s ‘most wanted’ list apprehended in Washington state following police pursuit

Detroit’s “most wanted” fugitive sex offender since 2018 was apprehended in Burien, Washington state, on Tuesday after a pursuit by law enforcement.

Cory Alan Olson, using various aliases while evading law enforcement in Washington, was ultimately caught by King County Sheriff’s detectives, as reported by Fox 13.

Olson, operating under the name “Randall,” matched an individual in Kansas whose identity was compromised while he worked temporary jobs in Washington. After being questioned about unpaid taxes in Kansas, further investigation led Kansas authorities to alert Washington officials.

“I love the find me puzzle,” Detective Riley Myklebust, instrumental in capturing Olson, told Fox 13.

Myklebust faced challenges while investigating identity theft cases.

“After about a week of searching through multiple addresses and records, I couldn’t identify this guy, which was unusual because I can usually figure it out,” he stated.

Olson was apprehended as he got into his car at a new job in Burien. He resisted arrest, pushing a sergeant and fleeing, but Myklebust pursued and captured him shortly after.

Fingerprints confirmed Olson’s identity even though he refused to admit it.

“He wouldn’t reveal his identity,” Myklebust stated.

Olson’s criminal record includes sexual assault of a teenage girl, injuring a deputy in a car crash while evading arrest, and facing charges for sexual assault against a person with special needs in Washington state.

During his court appearance for identity theft, criminal impersonation, and forgery charges, Olson’s attorney successfully requested protection of his identity, as approved by the court, Fox 13 reported.

Police urge anyone victimized by Olson to come forward given his history of repeated sexual offenses. Olson frequented karaoke bars, posing as a wealthy investor with a military background, often targeting women with teenage daughters, as per Fox 13.

Detectives noted his presence in various communities, including Issaquah, downtown Seattle, Puyallup, and Olympia, using names like Josiah, Payton, and Nikko, along with the last names Arb or Cadaa.

Victims of Olson are encouraged to contact the authorities.
