A senior citizen in New York City tragically fell to his death while attempting to escape a home invasion by climbing out of a window over the weekend.
The incident occurred in Washington Heights near 161st Street and Broadway at around 4:40 a.m. on Saturday when three intruders entered an apartment. According to the New York Post and NBC 4, one suspect used a fire escape to access a window and let in the other two.
The burglars proceeded to bind a 40-year-old man and proceeded to steal a gold chain valued at approximately $8,000 along with around $200 in cash, as stated by New York City police reports.

During the break-in, the victim’s father, 73-year-old Jacinto Remigo, fell from the sixth-floor window onto construction scaffolding, according to police information from NBC 4.
Remigo was taken to Harlem Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities are currently probing the circumstances surrounding his fall from the window.
A neighbor and acquaintance of the victim, Heriberto Garcia, disclosed to NBC 4 that he witnessed Remigo climb out of the window, fall after trying to reach another window ledge, and being obstructed by an air conditioner.
